ECAD and IADW Make Front Page News
ECAD started the week on Sunday, August 7, starring in the local newspaper, the Rivertown Enterprise.
An amazing story was written about ECAD and the personal stories of our own client and employee Kim Specht and her life with her Service Dog, Toby. Along with Kim and Toby, the article introduced a new ECAD family The O’Brien-Rothmanns!
We learned how their service dog Brady is bringing life back into their family by helping their Mom, Lee, a retired, disabled Police Officer deal with her issues with her invisible disability.
This story was an introduction to International Assistance Dog Week and what it is about. See ECAD’s webpage for press coverage.

Dept. of Labor IADW Elevator Posters
Author: ellencline; Published: Aug 8, 2011; Category: ; Tags: None; Comments Off
During the week of August 7-13, 2011, the U.S. Department of Labor is featuring International Dog Assistance Week as one of our featured weekly elevator posters.
The purpose of the elevator posters, which department officials first begin using in June 2009, is to provide useful and current information that articulates the goals of Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and the department and fosters a culture of dialogue, openness, and transparent communication.
The posters appear in all of the twenty-six elevators in the agency’s Frances Perkins headquarters building in Washington, D.C. and change weekly. The posters link the work of the Department with its mission and its workforce, engage employees, engage employees in their work environment, and recognize individual staff. They highlight important milestones, celebrate accomplishments, note historical achievements, recognize diversity, and inform employees of departmental happenings.
The International Assistance Dog Week poster is posted in our 26 elevators, posted online where nearly 20,000 U.S. Department of Labor employees can link to the poster, and sent to external stakeholders upon request. In addition, numerous employees request hard copies of the poster (they can download the link or come by the Office of Public Affairs for a copy).
By reading the poster, employees learn about celebratory weeks and the goal is to learn something new and spark elevator conversation.
There is no cost associated with the posters.
