Learn what the different types of assistance dogs can do with a variety of demonstrations. Hear from a puppyraiser. Test your dog’s public service potential. Meet service dogs and their partners, and listen as authors read from their service dog-related books at this festive event that’s a fundraiser for Assistance Dogs of the West.

Fun for the whole family; free admission.

Do you think your dog has the right stuff? All dogs are lovable, but only some have what it takes to face the public as working dogs. Take part in a mini-training class and test your dog’s potential.

You’ll be amazed by the wide variety of assistance dogs and what they can do.  See demonstrations from dogs that perform a mind-boggling array of tasks for their partners.

Author Judith Newton will be reading from the latest children’s book in her series about a service dog, named Nito. In this book, Nito and Chloe Get an Invitation, Judith tells a wonderful story about how Nito and his human partner, Chloe, travel to Washington, D.C. when they’re invited to visit the White House. They meet the President, his family, and of course, their dog Bo!

Marcie Davis, author of Working Like Dogs: The Service Dog Guidebook, will be reading from her book, a resource about service dogs that captures personal stories, checklists and practical tips. It is a must read for anyone who is considering a service dog, has a service dog, is raising or is responsible for the care of a service dog, and dog lovers alike who want to connect with the power of the human-animal service dog partnership.

Organized by Working Like Dogs and Assistance Dogs of the West.
