Railyard Dogs

Railyard Dogs

When: Saturday August 13th, 2011, 2pm - 4pm
Where: Santa Fe Railyard, Farmer's Market area, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Assistance dogs will show their stuff with their assistance dog partners and adult and youth trainers from Assistance Dogs of the West.

At Railyard Dogs, there will be an array of specialty assistance dogs doing demonstrations, performing a mind-boggling array of tasks, and looking forward to meeting new friends.

  • Meet assistance dogs and their partners, talk to youth and adult assistance dog trainers and pet the puppies.
  • Bring your own dog and test their public service potential.
  • There will also be refreshments and a raffle.

ADW Staff and Youth Board will do demonstrations and administer the popular Test Your Dog.  Can your dog successfully demonstrate five behaviors all assistance dogs MUST be able to perform?  Come on down to the Railyard, test your dog and find out.  Admission is free, but a donation is requested for the dog testing activity.

The fun and educational event is a fundraiser for Assistance Dogs of the West (ADW), a Santa Fe organization which provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities in order to increase self-reliance and independence.

We’ll be under the shady Farmer’s Market area, the Railyard Alameda, just alongside the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market Building, after the market is over from 2-4pm.  During the Farmer’s Market, we’ll have an information booth at the Artist’s Market area, from 8am – 1pm.
